What Makes Katniss Everdeen A Hero

the hunger games

It’s been a few years since Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel series, The Hunger Games, first hit the big screen starring X-Men: First Class’ Jennifer Lawrence and Journey to the Center of the Earth’s Josh Hutcherson.

But you know what? Katniss Everdeen is still a hero until now – and forever it may seem.

You see, there’s more to this bow-wielding victor than most people think. Because ladies and gentlemen, here are what makes Katniss Everdeen a hero:

Her Love For Her Family

This was especially evident in the first part of The Hunger Games, back when Katniss’ sister Primrose was nominated to be the girl tribute of the 75th Hunger Games with boy tribute Peeta Mellark. Katniss then volunteered to be the next girl tribute in exchange for Prim’s freedom from getting butchered senselessly the current year and her traumatized mother’s survival as she won’t be around to hunt food for the both of them.

Her Respect For Her Father

If you can recall, Katniss loves to be on her feet, hence her highly impressive character towards bows. However, it’s not just survival for her and her family nor a way to communicate with her best friend Gale without anyone judging them. It’s for her to get closer with her father’s memory, who passed away years ago during a coal mine explosion in District 12. It’s also for her to get closer to her father’s legacy, who taught her all that is there to learn about bows and arrows.

Her Loyalty For Peeta Mellark

If you can also recall, Katniss loves to be on her head, hence her highly unimpressive attitude towards people. However, it’s not just strategy for her and her team nor a way to excommunicate with her assigned mentor Haymitch without anyone judging them. It’s for her to get closer with her teammate’s memory, who practically gave her a new reason to wake up every single day. It’s also for her to get closer to her teammate’s legacy, who taught her all that is there to learn about faithfulness and love.

Indeed, it seems like the odds will forever be in Katniss Everdeen’s favor.

What about you?

What do you think makes Katniss Everdeen a hero?

Is it just her love for her family? Is it just her respect for her father? Is it just her loyalty for Peeta Mellark?

Or is it everything in between that no other person could have ever said any better?

Let’s discuss more about this in the comments section below!

5 Tips to Make Your Movie Night a Blockbuster

Choose the appropriate location

Adventure and action movies are best watched outside the house, while romantic and comedy movies are best watched at home. You could even watch a musical movie in your tree house. There’s no rule, actually. Just make sure the place is comfortable enough, and there’s an outlet!

Watch with friends

It’s boring if you watch alone. You could do tons of activities with your friends on movie night too. Besides, you’ll enjoy your movies better if you spend time watching it with a friend. Watching with friends is just like getting most out of your spotter scope; you’re maximizing the movie’s capacity to entertain you.

Be creative about your snacks

Don’t take your snacks lightly! Even if you’re just staying at home, you can have the time of your life with the right food for your movie night. Popcorn usually does the trick, but why not level up your game? You could bake muffins, make your own pizza, and prepare your favorite healthy juice or smoothie that go well with the food you have in mind. Make your movie night special with food.

Take the entire night seriously

I’m talking about costumes, home decor, and fun research! If you’re going to watch a Harry Potter movie, for example, you and your family or friends could dress up like the characters in the film. You could assign who’d be Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and so on. You could even vote for the best costume of the night and have a prize ready for the winner. You could also decorate the house so that it looks like Hogwarts and perhaps trivia and fun facts could be mentioned before or after the movie.

Show movie awards

After playing the movie, you could show the compilation of awards or nominations the film received. It’s one way to appreciate the movie, the cast, and the staff.

Chick Flicks To Binge-Watch On Netflix

Indeed, the wonders of Netflix continue to shine bright upon those who are looking to chill every Saturday night.

That being said, here are some chick flicks to binge-watch on Netflix that will definitely make your Saturday nights shine even brighter:

The charm of Alicia Silverstone in this movie never fails to make others shine bright with adoration for her.

Set in a high school filled with jocks, nerds, cheerleaders, and overachievers, Alicia takes on the role of Cher – a fashionably beautiful and rich daughter of a lawyer who longs to have a boyfriend who will truly love her for who she is. Paul Rudd, on another hand, takes on the role of Josh – Cher’s ex-stepbrother and her father’s apprentice on being a lawyer, as well as the one who truly loves her for who she is.

Just My Luck

As luck would have it, Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine will make us realize the true power of love – even if things get roughest than rougher than rough.

Just My Luck follows the lucky life of Ashley (played by Lohan) and the unlucky life of Jake (played by Pine). In what looks really destined to happen, they switched luck in a masquerade party organized by Ashley for her boss and for their potential client. Ashley then went on a crazy journey to get back her luck – only to realize that the man helping her was the same man who accidentally took it.

The Heartbreak Kid

Ben Stiller has done it again. It’s not exactly a wild movie on Netflix; but I’m telling you, it will break hearts.

Single at 40, Ben Stiller takes on the role of Eddie – a sports shop owner in San Francisco. Malin Akerman takes on the role of Lila, the environmental researcher who became Eddie’s wife after only a few months of dating. Michelle Monaghan, on another hand, takes on the role of Miranda – a family-oriented woman Eddie met during his and Lila’s honeymoon in Cabos and his one true love.
